Happy 4th!

So I was thinking about all the different things I could make for this holiday. There's cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, pies and everything in between. But what about cookies? I never make cookies anymore. And I Love cookies. They're fun and easy to make. And absolutely delicious. Ive been on a mission to find the perfect chocolate chip cookies. We all know toll house is good. But I want something different. Not the same old good cookie. Well I still haven't found the recipe I'm looking for. So for today, I stuck will Toll house. Ive had this recipe forever. So I don't have a link for you today. Today the recipe will be right underneath my step by step photos! Not that anyone really needs picture directions to make cookies.. But its more fun this way! :)
Okay here we go! First set your oven to 375 degrees.
Get all your supplies out!
First place 1 stick of butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup light brown sugar (packed)
1/2 t vanilla
1/4 t water
Mix it all together!
Add in your egg
Mix that together, then set aside. Its time for the dry ingredients!
Now mix 1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 salt (I only used 1/4 t. cookies should be sweet.. Not salty! But that's just my opinion. You can use 1/2 like the recipe suggests if you'd prefer)
Mix your wet and dry ingredients all together

And because these are 4th of July cookies we have to add red, white and blue!
The recipe says 1 cup of chocolate chips and 3/4 of nuts (nuts are obviously optional.) I didn't measure either the M&Ms or the chocolate chips. Just kinda added as much as I thought was good. The more the better, right?
Once you've mixed in your chocolate chips and M&Ms, use your scooper and place them on a greased cookie sheet.
The recipe says put them in the oven for 10 minutes. Which I did. Then (because my cookies are a little bigger) I put them from the bottom rack to the top and let them cook for another 3-4 minutes. Then take them out and let them cool. Once they're cool to the touch, put them on a wire rack to cool. And because you cant possibly let others eat a bad cookie, you must taste one! And you wont be disappointed.. They're delicious!

Toll House Chocolate chip cookies

Cream together in a medium bowl
1/2 cup Margarine or butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 packed brown sugar
1/2 t vanilla
1/4 t water
Mix together, then blend in 1 egg

Combine together, then add to your wet mix
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt

Combine wet and dry, then add
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Drop by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes
Makes about 2 dozen.
(Probably because I used a bigger scoop, but it only made me 13 cookies. So the amount of cookies you get will depend on your scoop. I'm not sure what kind of scoop they used, but I think mine is a 2 inch.)
Now you have a simple yet scrumptious holiday treat that the whole family will love! Have a happy holiday and remember what this holiday is about. (No not just yummy food and fireworks.) Remember how lucky you are to live in the country you do. And remember to thank all the men in women over seas for everything they do! Be safe and have fun!
